This year the LETR award is being awarded to Cindy Heafy of the Coral Springs Police Department. Cindy has been a part of the torch run activities for over fourteen years. She has sold t-shirts, organized tip-a-cops, co-coordinated our Polar Plunge, sold Harley tickets, found runners for the torch run, helped with the picnic and numerous other activities.
Cindy is best known for the annual Coral Springs Police Department Car Show. This event has been going on for fourteen years and last year even included a truck pull event and has risen over $30,000 for Special Olympics. Cindy pulls together her community to put on to put on a fantastic event that is great fun for all who attend.
Cindy has also donated her time to SOBC by giving CPR classes. Cindy is one of the LETR officers that attend every event she is invited to support our program. For her long time service to the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, I am proud to name Cindy Heafy as the 2010 Timothy Gillette Law Enforcement Torch Run Award winner.
